How To Prepare Your House For a New Member

Preparing for a new baby is an exciting experience. Tiny clothes, cute furniture, and welcoming decor all contribute to the hype of finally bringing home your new family member. When shopping for the precious delivery’s needs, be sure to read this all terrain stroller review as well as other baby gear reviews before making a decision.

However, experience can be emotional and overwhelming. Having a to-do list can help you keep track of everything that needs to be done when preparing your house for a new family member.

Do Some Deep Cleaning

Deep cleaning in advance serves a few purposes. First and foremost, it’s an opportunity to remove dirt, germs, and allergens from your home. As babies have weak immune systems, getting your home as clean as possible can prevent them from getting sick in the early days.

Additionally, deep cleaning your home now makes it easier to stay on top of things when the baby arrives. This is essential when you know the baby naps for an hour, and you have to decide between catching up on sleep, eating, showering, and cleaning. Pick up some of the best natural cleaning products and give your home a good scrub.

Make Freezer Meals

One of the best ways to prepare your home for a new family member is to spend a couple of Sundays batch preparing freezer meals. Create a few options that can be transferred to a slow cooker or pot when it’s time to eat.

Freezer meals are a convenient way to ensure that you’re getting enough nutritional food during the chaos of the first few weeks. Additionally, if you have children already, having freezer meals prepared can save a lot of time and stress.

Stock Up on Supplies

Don’t let your cupboards get empty as your due date approaches. In the final month, you want to be sure to have the staples in your pantry. Additionally, be sure that you have the diapers, wipes, and other things that you might need purchasing and ready to go.

Your main goal is to have enough stuff so that you don’t have to worry about dragging your infant to the grocery store. It can be nice to get out of the house, but running out of toilet paper three days after you get home isn’t the way to go about it.

Get Everything Set Up

Take some time to have everything set up and tested before the baby comes home. Even if you aren’t sure that you’ll be using the items, it’s better to be prepared. Be sure that all of the furniture you need is set up and laid out how you want it at least a few weeks before your due date.

Don’t forget to prepare the smaller items as well. Test your baby monitor and buy fresh batteries. If you purchased a breast pump, put it together, and learn how it works so that you don’t have to figure it out at three in the morning. Wash all the baby’s clothing and organize it.

Do a Safety Inspection

While you don’t have to worry about your baby getting into anything for a couple of months, you should still take time to do a safety inspection. This is important not only for your baby but for you as well.

Test your fire alarms and remove any clutter or obstacles that could become a tripping hazard. Make a list of any hazardous areas that could pose a problem in the future. While mobility is a few months away, the time will fly by.

The more you’re able to do before your new family member arrives, the better!
