I don’t know about you, but I am so thankful for technology. When I look at the advancements we have seen in just a few decades I am impressed and grateful because I realize that they have made many parts of our daily life a lot easier. From desktop computers to laptops to tablets, manufacturers have fit more and more features into less and less space. This has made things like working, doing homework, researching, shopping and socializing possible, just about anywhere. I personally, don’t know how my family would function without our laptops.
I have my work laptop and my older kids have laptops mostly for school work but lately I have been thinking of investing in a couple of tablets. I would love to have one for the social media parts of my job and also just for web browsing and playing a few games that I enjoy. I was also considering getting one for my daughter for educational apps and games. It was just perfect timing when I was given the chance to review the Nextbook 8 Tablet. I told the kids and we waited not so patiently until the Nextbook 8 Tablet arrived.
The Nextbook 8 Tablet runs Android Kit Kat 4.4 and has 1GB RAM and a quad core processor. The screen measures just under 8 inches and the black casing looks sleek, smooth and felt comfortable in my hands. It is WiFi capable so you can browse the web, play games and watch videos anywhere you go. This tablet is packed full of features. It’s preloaded with the Google Play Store where you can choose from thousands of different apps. It has both front and rear facing cameras, 8GB of memory built in and and a slot to expand the memory. The battery has a long life and it was about 5 or 6 hours before we needed to recharge it.
I loved that I was able to use it to easily update my Facebook status and post to my page. I even took photos and uploaded them with no problems. The screen is bright and clear and the camera takes pretty nice pictures for such an affordable tablet. I read and sent emails, caught up on the news and some celebrity gossip. The I clicked on the Google Play Store icon and downloaded some free apps and games for the kids to play. I also let them go to a couple different websites they like using the NetNanny browser. I love this feature because it adds an extra measure of safety when your kids are on the internet. In this day and age, you can’t be too careful. They enjoyed the games and apps and would have played for hours if I let them.
