My New Anti-Mom-Eyes Routine with Altchek MD

Anyone else have “Mom eyes”?  You know, the shiny bags with a hint of purple?  I definitely do.  Between my anemia, parenting-induced sleep deprivation, and years of dragging concealer over the area instead of patting it, I managed to do some damage.  I’ve started working very hard to undo my panda eyes.  There’s a stack of five-ish different eye creams on my counter, but I wanted to try a few products meant to work together and give myself a better chance of results.

I was sent the gel eye pads, eye cream, and brightening serum by Altchek MD to try them out.  You can only get these at Ulta, but who doesn’t need a new excuse to go there?

I’ve been using the eye repair cream ($18.99, Ulta.com) twice a day.  Just a fair warning, the first day I used it there was a little bit of a burning sensation.  Not anything, “Oh wow, get this off my face.” but something similar to the feeling of a mask with a thermal activator.  It subsided after the first few applications.  The firming effect was there after the first night.  Reducing my purple-panda eyes took a few more days.

The eye gel pads ($13.99, Ulta.com) have been a twice-a-week thing for me, with a total of three applications so far.  These are meant to be left on for “at least 30 minutes”, so I’ve been leaving them for the first hour of my workday.  The pads stick on and they’re definitely big enough to cover the entire under-eye area for anyone.  They are very cool and after the first few minutes, given a good distraction, you don’t really think about them anymore.

Look, Ma!  No redness or puffy eyes!

The brightening serum ($23.99, Ulta.com) has been working two-fold for the under eye discoloration and the little bits of redness around my nose and t-zone.  After the first 3 days, two applications per day, I started seeing the redness fading.  I love the idea of using less concealer, or even going without.  I still have a little touch of freckles from being in the sun so much this Summer, but there’s definitely less red there.

{For one of my recent Instagram photos I was without any concealer or foundation, just eye shadow and mascara done, and I love the even skin-tone around my eyes.}

I am loving this new routine.  I did take my moisturizer out of my routine temporarily to allow for the brightening serum and not worry about too many layers on my face, but I’m using a moisturizing soap to make up for it.  This has been a fantastic set of products to add into my normal morning set of products.
