Colorforms for the holidays! Magic Fashion Show Playset Review & Giveaway

Founded in 1951, Colorforms is one of the oldest and best-known brands in the toy industry. It was the very first plastic-based creative toy, and one of the first toys ever advertised on television.

The defining feature of most Colorforms play sets is their signature plastic ‘Stick-Ons™’ that can be placed and repositioned on top of graphic backgrounds to create endless scenes at a child’s whim. Over time, the Colorforms line has included imaginative play sets, games and puzzles, interactive books and other creative activities for young children.

Since its inception, more than 1 billion Colorforms play sets have been sold – a number that keeps growing every year. With more than 75 toy products in current distribution, Colorforms continues to build on time-honored creative play patterns that generations of children have experienced and remember fondly.

Colorforms Magic Fashion Show

Designed for girls ages 3-8 years, the Magic Fashion Show playset lets them become a head designer of their own fashion shows. They can dress runway models “backstage” in different outfits and accessories, and then send them along a circular catwalk to show off each new ensemble under a real working spotlight. The product comes with five standing figures and plenty of Colorforms’ Stick-Ons play pieces to create hundreds of different outfit combinations, allowing up to five kids to play together and participate in a real fashion show experience!

What the momma thinks….

I fondly remember getting Colorforms playsets for gifts at Christmas time as a child. While they have made some changes in the design, the fun still remains. We recently received the Colorforms Magic Fashion Show which I was overly excited to share with my daughters.

The fashion playset is made from plastic and very simple to snap in place. Under the stage is a drawer in which you can store your supplies (dolls and clothing). The drawer is a big plus in my home since we seem to lose parts to toys all the time and allows me to keep everything in one place. The stage twirls around for fashion displaying. There is a mirror style center which allows for the full front and back fashion viewing effect. To make it more dramatic turn on the stage lights (operated by 3 AA batteries) and let the fashion show begin.

Included in the set are five Colorform dolls that are similar to a paperdoll but thicker and thus a stronger toy. The clothes can be placed on and like a sticker they will magically stick into place. Now unlike a sticker they can be removed and reused again and again. Plus, plus on being reusable and interchangeable.

In the end it is a awesome, classic playset with a modern feel. In the words of one of our favorite cartoon charaters, all it takes is a little “imagination“. The Colorforms Magic Fashion Show would make a wonderful gift idea for girls ages 5 and up.
