As children we are all asked the age old question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” at some point. For parents who have budding pediatricians, veterinarians and even sports medicine doctors, Little Medical School has created a line of medical kits to aid in their early learning experiences.
For our youngest, a love for his pets has brought him to a fond interest in animal medicine. The Little Medical School Veterinarian medical kit was a logical and creative solution to help bring those wishes to live in a playtime setting. After all, I have always wished for a doctor in the family.
This ‘mini-veterinarian school journey’ for kids offers a wondrous array of fun and exciting activities through which children explore the world of medicine, science, health and pet care taking through an instructional workbook and the supplies needed to complete the activity tasks.
The journey begins with the traditional Little Medical School White Coat and Student Doctor ID Badge which is the calling card for everything doctor related. This long white coat has buttons from bottom to top, a front pocket perfect for storing markers, tape measure and modeling dough (included in the kit) and sports the Little Medical School text logo proudly.
School begins on the day one as the first patient arrives, a plush dog complete with bandana. This little pup is everything you expect in a canine to make you fall in love. Soft, tiny and brown, it’s hard not to want to give him the very best of care.
For the moment when you fall head over heals for the sweet pup and per activity 1, a handy adoption certificate is included in the Little Medical School Veterinarian so that he can get his forever home and a name. Now your little one have their very own pet to care for as they are learning the medical skills needed to complete the program. This is one of the certificates you can find proudly hanging on Mr. E’s wall.
Activity or day 2 takes you through the nose to tail exam. With each section your child will check their new pet for any signs of health issues. Everything from a runny nose to the cleanliness of their ears. Similar to a well-child check, this process will seem familiar and give them a chance to be creative and build their own veterinarian story. I highly suggest making several copies of this paper for future use as we found Mr. E enjoys changing the symptoms with each new day.
The next activity is one of our favorites, Doggie Gone Bananas Treat making time. The Little Medical School Veterinarian medical kit comes with a recipe and dog bone cookie cutter for this purpose. These cookies are safe and delicious for both canine and human consumption. Can you say baa-baa-bananas?
For a more serious and down to medical business lesson, the kit teaches about tick removal. This is a tedious and pesky activity that all good pet owners and veterinarian must learn. For this, you will find an instruction sheet, tweezers, tick removal stickers, gloves and a plastic bag. Everything you need to remove and dispose of this nasty insect causing your sweet pet’s pain.
After all the activities have been completed, watch the joy in your little ones eyes light up when you present them with their Little Medical School Veterinarian diploma. This is one moment you will want to catch on camera and have a frame standing by to proudly showcase this masterful achievement.
