Jamberry Nail Wrap Experience

If you have been a fan of www.motherhooddefined.com for a while, then you have seen us feature numerous small businesses and even more so show support for women owned companies. That belief that even the smallest idea can take flight and grow into something short of a miracle is still very strong. So when Jessica Johnson, independent representative for Jamberry Nails, reached to me about doing a review, I was happy to do so.

More about Jamberry Nails

The story of Jamberry Nails begins with three sisters who possess distinct personal tastes, but share a love for style. After an expensive afternoon together at the nail salon, Lyndsey, Christy and Keri vowed to find a simpler, more cost effective way to keep their hands looking polished, while still spending time together.

After lots of trial and error, the proprietary nail wraps of Jamberry Nails launched in late 2010. The DIY, at-home application and incredible variety of designs caught on quickly and sales soared. A new era of nail art was born.

Gone are the days of nails that chip and flake after only a few days! Gone are the days of the single colored manicure. Gone are the mani/pedis that take all afternoon and most of your cash too! Jamberry nail wraps arm you with style and confidence while demanding very little of your time or money.

So what exactly is this craze of prepared nail art wraps that you simply stick on to your nail all about? Are you as skeptical as I was? Well let’s see how our experience went with myself as the nail art technician *note I have no training and do not claim to be an expert at all* and my assistant and beautiful daughter, Aryka.

First off I highly suggest opting for the nail kit and heater offered by Jamberry. Of course you can do without them as I did, but I found afterwards after ordering the extra pieces that I had a better success rate with the length of time the nails stayed on.

For the novice and those who just want to buy the wraps, here is the method we went with.

1. Supplies: Hairdryer, Jamberry Nail Wraps, scissors, nail file and nail clippers.

2. Cut the wraps to fit your nails.

3. Heat the wrap before placing for smoother application.

4. Place, mold and cut off extra wrap.

5. Enjoy!

Jamberry Nail Success

The put on process was fairly simple and less time consuming than a three coat dry and polish. They looked fantastic as you can see above. In fact we were very happy with them until she started helping me with doing dishes and two came off. I am guessing the hot water disengaged the glue.

Never fear though, we did the process again a few days later using the kit and heater and experience a longer life span and no issues with showering {no dishes those nights}. That is why I highly suggest the heater at least because it seems to work better at activating the sticky backing and creates a better hold than a hair dryer.

In the end, I was happy with the results. $15 is a small price to pay for a creative nail art look. Plus you get at least two applications with each sheet making it about $7.50 per mani. In all honestly I have been getting gelz at the salon for sometime now and my expense is $25 every two weeks and they don’t look nearly as neat.

I also think Jamberry Nail wraps a great solution for young girls who don’t like to sit still long enough for the polish to dry. I am sure many of you are reading this going exactly what I was thinking. I cannot tell you how many times I wasted the $20 getting my daughters’ nails done at the salon when I go for them to ruin them before we even walk out the door. So this is me deciding that Jamberry is less costly and a better solution to my daughters’ desire to be beautiful along side of mom.
