Geocaching Etiquette + Magellan eXplorist GC GPS Giveaway

Geocaching Etiquette

Geocaching is the 21st century treasure hunt that kids and families can enjoy together. While this is a family sport to help create true outdoor adventures, it is best to know the ways of the land before hand. The following 5 simple Geocaching Etiquette rules will help ease you into an extraordinary caching undertaking.

1. Research – It is very important to do your reading on how the game is played before you begin. Many take geocaching very seriously and you do not want to step on toes right out of the game. A grand place to start your adventure is at www.geocaching.com. {psss: basic membership is free}

2. Sign the logbook – Feel free to use a signature alas, mark or even your real name. This will help keep track of where you have been been and is seriously cool to see how many have visited before and after you.

3. Original placement – It is very important that you replace the hidden geocache in it’s original home. After all this is how we find them in the first place

4. Never take more than you give – Some people actively participate in the swap. This is where you take something from the geocache and leave something in it’s place. Make sure what you leave carries the same or greater value than the item you are trading for.

5. Obey local laws at all time – Do not place anything in the cache that could be considered dangerous or anything that requires an age to purchase. Examples: Ammo, knives, alcohol {you get the idea}.
