Healthy Snacking with Van’s Natural Foods Giveaway

Spring has almost arrived. Can you hear the cheers around my home? I mean come on Iowa winters are harsh and have us living like hermits for months with barely any sun peeking through. With the excitement of nearing warmer weathers, means more outdoor time including park visit, roadtrips and picnics. Yea!

This means my mindset for mealtimes and daily activities shifts to focus on sunshine and healthier routines. Often leading us back into better eating habits and more on foot activities. Did someone say whole grains and greens? Yum.

Van's Prize Pack

One of our favorite good for you food companies, Van’s Natural Foods offers a variety of healthy snacks with its all-natural, nutrition-packed whole grain ingredients. The portable treats are perfect for day camp backpacks, family road trip snacks, pool totes or beach bags and even to keep in my purse for those overly busy days when I just don’t have time to stop and take a meal.

Van’s offer a delicious and nutritious way to snack that the whole family can enjoy. Not to mention, they’re gluten-free as well! My favorite by far is the Cranberry Almond Bar. It has the perfect texture that keeps me chewing while counting down to 50 with every bite. {Yes, I really do that. Stop laughing!} Almonds are by far my favorite nut and cranberries while I will not eat them plain, they play a huge part when I am making meals like oatmeal and desserts. So why not in a snack bar?

I want to mention, that I did not get to sample the Say Cheese crackers. My lovely children claimed them for their own and carted them off to school for snacks each day till there were none left. I call that a sucess in itself since they are my hardest critics when it comes to food.

Van’s also sent along their Cinnamon Heaven cereal for us to try out. I was surprised to see this treat in with our snack themed package. However after a few bites, I had my answer. This cereal could totally be carried along as a treat sans milk. In fact you know those little snack containers made for toddlers, the ones that have those cool lids that allow hands in but close so nothing comes out? Well, my tot would have me put the Cinnamon Heaven bits in one of those for him before we headed out to drop the kids off at school in the morning. I think he liked the crunch as much as his mommy did.

In the end the taste is what really matters, for the most part my family thoroughly enjoyed the selections from Van’s Natural Foods. And unlike some of our other all natural favorites, Van’s is easy to find at both my local Wal-Mart and Hy-Vee locations. Woot!

I would like to try the Gluten Free French Toast Sticks. I have a special needs nephew whom is with me every other weekend and just loves French Toast Sticks. Compared to Van’s variety I shudder sometimes to think what might be in our brand.

I have had the plain waffles and love them (even better than Eggo). They all look delicious but I would love to try the honey nut crunch. I have yet to find a gluten free cereal I like. My favorite cereal was honey nit Cheerios and honey bunches of oats so hopefully this would compare.

I’d like my husband and I try the Power Grains Waffles Totally Original. It might be a way that I can get him to eat grains.
