Packing for Your First Overseas Adventure

Whether you really have a yearning for an exciting journey or you simply want to have one of the hottest Instagram accounts filled with photos of exotic places, your first overseas trip should definitely be a special one.

A journey starts before you even leave your house – you’re need to envision, plan, and most importantly, pack properly before you embark on an adventure. That’s why we’re here to give you some tips on how to pack efficiently and with ease, so that your first overseas adventure can go as smoothly as possible.

Packing for Your First Overseas Adventure

1. Lists, lists, lists

Like we’ve said before, you shouldn’t start doing anything before you plan it out, if your goal is to have a carefree adventure. This applies to packing as well, since there are so many essential items you should bring without and you wouldn’t want to forget any of them at home, would you.

This is why making a list is the best thing you can do before you actually start packing. Write down everything you think you’ll need, remove everything you think isn’t necessary for your trip, and finally, do a bit of research to check if there are some things that haven’t crossed your mind.

2. Bags and Suitcases

Your next step should be choosing the right bag for your stuff. Although we all think it’s best to pack your things in a suitcase, there are actually certain scenarios in which you’ll be better off with your luggage packed in something else.

Suitcases are by far the best choice if you’re going far and if you’re staying in the same spot for a while. However, for trips that don’t last too long or involve a lot of moving around, a backpack will suit your needs much better than a bulky suitcase.

3. First Aid and Medicine

We don’t want you to freak out, but the first thing you need to pack should be first aid supplies and necessary prescription medicine.

It would be a lie to say that most trips involve medical emergencies, because they don’t. Although overseas adventures – much like any other journey – usually end greatly for everyone, it would be wise to pack both the equipment and the medicine you might need in case of an injury. If you’re suffering from a chronical disease, you don’t really have a choice on the matter.

4. Personal Hygiene

Although nobody really thinks too hard about it, personal hygiene is among our top priorities every day. Packing for an overseas adventure isn’t an exception to this, which is why you should put your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, clean underwear and the rest in a separate bag.

First off, you never know if your luggage is going to get misplaced and possibly lost for a good period of time. For this reasons and more, it’s smart to carry your personal hygiene bag with you at all times, just in case. Furthermore, you can do the same thing with your documents bag – you know how hard things can get if you lose your passport halfway across the globe from home?
