Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe

This recipe has a twist. So I didn’t have any cinnamon on hand {gasp, I know!}, but, I did have nutmeg and chocolate chips! This is a dangerous recipe, but, if you are brave enough to make it once, you may never go back to the same old boring banana bread EVER AGAIN!

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe

Wet Ingredients

  • 2-3 Ripe bananas
  • ½ stick room temperature butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ c light brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Start by mushing the bananas with a fork.
  2. Once the bananas are mushy add the stick of butter and blend until creamy, adding in one egg at a time.
  3. Next add the brown sugar and vanilla teaspoon and beat until you have a smooth consistency.

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 C Whole Wheat Flour
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl until they are incorporated.
  3. If you have a stand mixer you’ll want to put on your bread attachment at this point. Let’s marry the wet and dry ingredients, shall we?
  4. Add a cup of dry ingredients at a time to the wet ingredients and mix until the dough comes together. Now let’s get CRAZY! Add 1 c of semi-sweet chocolate chip morsels and stir!
  5. Grease your bread pan and pour your mixture in. Make sure the mix is even in the pan.
  6. Bake in the oven for 55-65 minutes. To ensure the bread has baked all the way you can use the tried and true tooth pick {or fork!} method. Stick in the toothpick and if it comes out clean, it’s done!
