Celebrate Christmas with a Visit to the West Country

With Christmas now just around the corner you will want to arrange something special for you and the family to do together over the festive period, as this is what this time is all about. You will want to spend some quality time together and find some fun activities to do, as well as relax and enjoy some good food and drink. One great idea over the festive period is to go on a short break, as this does not have to cause too much stress and you can go for just a few days. One of the best places to visit is the West Country, as here there all kinds of great things to see and do, and lots of little towns and villages to explore.

You will want to stay in a self catering cottage, as this way you can make it feel like home after you come back from a days exploring. There is a good chance you will spend a fair amount of time just lounging around the cottage and playing some board games, but the fact that you are on a break away will make it that little bit more special. When you do head out to Devon, Cornwall, Somerset or Dorset you can go on all kinds of great walks and take in the stunning scenery that you find down here. You will also find plenty of cosy pubs and restaurants on your walks too, so you can make a real day of it.

  1. Sounds inviting but I would need some snow to make it feel like Christmas

  2. Sarah Butler says:

Sounds so inviting and pleasant, I wish someday I would have the opportunity to be a part of something so calming.

  3. I would have to agree with the above commenter about the snow. I am currently in N.C. visiting and I find it hard to look at xmas lights and decorations and get in the Christmas spirit. I am from Wisconsin and it is bitterly cold there now and we have snow. To me that is Christmas…maybe because that is what I am used to!!

    Happy Holidays!!

  4. I bet the west is really pretty. I like home (upstate SC) for Christmas. There’s sometimes a chance of snow and cold weather for Christmas. Now the day after Christmas, bring on the warm weather!

  5. The cottage looks adorable. Unfortunately, right now we can’t afford a trip.

  6. The cottage is very pretty. Unfortunately, I don’t have the money right now for a vacation.

  7. Denise Smith says:

  8. That’s a nice rustic place. Thanks for sharing such a place.
