Welcome to the #ItsChristmas, American Girl Giveaway.

Organized by Mom Powered Media

Meet Saige, our 2013 Girl of the Year! She’s a spirited girl who draws on her passions to inspire action. The Saige doll is 18″ tall, with bright turquoise eyes that open and close. She has long auburn hair that can be brushed and braided, and comes with both pierced ears and an artsy ring!
The Saige doll comes in an outfit that gets her creativity flowing. The Saige doll has a huggable cloth body, and her moveable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl. Includes the Saige paperback book—an engaging story that will inspire girls to act on their passions!

  • An indigo knit dress with cropped sleeves, geometric embroidery reminiscent of southwestern art, and a tiered skirt
  • Tall leather-look boots with wrap straps
  • A turquoise-colored ring to bring out her eyes, plus fun earrings
  • Blue cotton underwear

“An American Girl: Saige Paints the Sky” DVD: Nine-year-old Saige Copeland is looking forward to the new school year, until she finds out that due to funding cuts, her Albuquerque school won’t have any art classes this year. Add to that, Saige’s best friend Tessa seems to be growing apart from her—and closer to a girl named Dylan. Why does everything have to change? For help, Saige turns to her Grandma Mimi, who rides her beautiful horse Picasso in the Balloon Fiesta parade every year. Mimi encourages Saige to do something to help—rally her friends to raise money for the art classes they love. But just as her ideas begin to take off, her grandma is injured in an accident. Can Saige ride Picasso in the parade and make her grandma proud? And can she still raise money for the arts? Saige will have to face stage fright—and friendship troubles—to find her voice and help save the arts at school. Running time: 90 minutes

One of my favorite Christmas memories is when all of my sisters and I got our first American Girl dolls, with all of their books, from our parents: mine was Kirsten; Andrea’s was Samantha; Erin’s was Molly; and Ashley’s was Felicity. When I worked at Borders Books and Music, I was a kids clerk and watched all of the little girls love to browse these historical fiction books. Now that I am an aunt, I would love for my niece to have her first American Girl experience at Christmas time in the same room where her mom and aunts had theirs!
